LTC James A. Wiley

   On an unknown date in September of 1956 LTC Wiley assumed command of the Battalion from LTC Robert M. Allgeier.

   The Battalion assets were stationed at Fort Hood, Texas performing force security, discipline, law and order duties.

    During his tour in 1956-1957 Battalion elements were assigned to a new detachment (1st Provisional MP Company) at Sandia Base in New Mexico, and later participated in Operation HARDTACK (Nuclear Testing).

    On 18 October 1957 LTC Wiley passed command of the Battalion to LTC MAJ Virgil E. McKenzie.

LTC Wiley’s last assignment was with the Provost Marshal General’s Office in Washington, D.C. Among his other assignments, LTC Wiley has been instructor of the Provost Marshal General’s School, and also Provost Marshal of Trieste.

LTC Wiley wears the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Occupation Medal, WW II Victory Medal, and National Defense Ribbon. He and Mrs. Wiley moved into McNair Village while commander of the 720th.
