They Say,
our deaths are not ours,
they are yours,
they will mean what
you make of them.

They say,
we leave you our deaths,
give them some

CPL John E. Gargan was part of a four man company motorized patrol searching for Communist Guerilla forces known to be operating in a small valley north west of Wonson, North Korea. The jeep ran over a Russian land mine just northwest of a friendly check point. The resulting explosion killed PFC Billy J. Porter, CPL Gargan and seriously wounded SFC Francis J. Freeman, and SGT Duane F. Carey.
