B Company Returns To III Corps Tactical Zone, Long Binh Post, For Stand Down |
March B company, under the command of CPT David Wright, returned from Vinh Long to Long Binh Post, Bien Hoa Province, III Corps Tactical Zone in a 98 vehicle convoy that took half a day just to cross the Mekong River via the ferry. With the move of B Company from Vinh Long in IV Corps Tactical Zone back to Long Binh Post in III Corps Tactical Zone, a five soldier detachment of MPs from B Company remained assigned to Military Assistance Command (MACV) Advisory Team #68 in Vinh Long. SGT Carl W. Singleton, Noncommissioned Officer In Charge, and LTC Dewitt Hudson, Provost Marshal of IV Corps Tactical Zone oversaw daily operations. This detachment, equipped with two V100 armored cars, continued the convoy escort duties. When required, their manpower was augmented by MPs from B Company Headquarters at Long Binh Post. |
If you can provide any photographs or information on the return convoy, what unit took over MP duties in Vinh Long, or other detachment activities from January to March 1972, please notify the History Project Manager via the Email Link at the top of this page. |
