At the start of the month Battalion HQ Detachment, its letter companies and the 212th MP Company (Sentry Dog) were headquartered subordinate to the 18th MP Brigade, 89th MP Group, III Corps Tactical Zone, Bien Hoa Provence, Long Binh Post,  South Vietnam.

Exact Date Unknown  During the month, an exchange program called Operation ENLISTED LEADER was initiated involving personnel of the Battalion and the Air Force Security Police, 3rd Combat Support Group (PACAF) headquartered at the Bien Hoa Airbase. The exchange was designed to promote a mutual understanding of the duties and responsibilities of the two services.

1 October

212th MP Company  CPT Robert P. Glassley assumed command of the 212th MP Company from CPT James H. Gebard.

Bearcat Detachment  CPT Arthur L. Huckabay, A Company, was assigned as Provost Marshal at the Bearcat Detachment.

3 October

     1LT Surry P. Everett is assigned as a Platoon Leader to Charlie Company.

    CSM Burton E. Morrow transferred authority to CSM William J. Wilkinson in a ceremony held on the Battalion parade field on Long Binh Post.

8 October

     MAJ William F. Weaver, Battalion Executive Officer and Battalion CSM Burton E. Morrow departed Vietnam for further assignment in the U.S.

11 October

River Patrol-PBR  The 18th MP Brigade issued new Waterway Security Operation regulations superseding all previous guidance concerning waterborne PBR operations. The regulations became the new operational guidelines over all such military police assets and activities, including the tactical operations of the joint B Company and 458th U.S. Army Transportation Company (PBR) River Patrol Unit on the Dong Nai. The new regulations did not have a major effect on overall Battalion operations, but did directly affect support of Operation STABILIZE in the TAOR.

23 October

     1LT Gerald T. Phipps was assigned to B Company as a platoon leader.

TAOR  B Company received a total of 9 Infantrymen to boost their manpower. Two had the MOS of 11 B, Basic Infantryman, seven the MOS of 11C, Indirect Fire Infantryman, and one MOS 09B, Basic Trainee. One was a PVT, two were PFC’s, three were SP/4’s, and three were SGT’s.

24 October

     CPT Alvin W. Smith replaced 1LT James R. Huffsteler as the Battalion Intelligence and Security (S2) Officer.

Xuan Loc Detachment  The Battalion discipline, law and order detachment and convoy commitment at the Black Horse (Xuan Loc) Base Camp headquarters of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment were terminated upon turnover of the base to the 18th Army Of The Republic Of Vietnam (ARVN), Infantry Division. All the personnel resources and equipment were returned to other duties. The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (Blackhorse) departed their longtime base camp south of Xuan Loc, and moved towards the Cambodian border area to base camps at Lai Khe and Quan Loi.
