May
7 May Former members of the 720th MP Battalion Vietnam era marched in the New York City Parade to welcome home Vietnam Vets. The parade started in Brooklyn and 25,000 Vietnam vets marched through Broadway's "Canyon of Heroes" in lower Manhattan, as 1 million spectators watched, and 468 tons of ticker-tape are used.

“We marched over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan, down lower Broadway (Canyon of Heroes), and ended right near Twin Towers. I was inducted into the Army right here. A few weeks home from Vietnam (1967) I started working here. I watched the Twin Towers being built. I flew over, ate in the restaurant on the top, and parked in garage under the Twin Towers. Then I watched them come tumbling down on September 11, 2001. Then I saw the 105th MP Company guarding Ground Zero.” SP/4 Allan M. Portnoy, B Company & 615th MP Company, 720th MP Battalion, October 1966 to October 1967
