At the start of the year the Battalion was headquartered subordinate to the 89th MP Brigade, III Corps at Fort Hood, TX.
March
23 March - Fort Hood CSM Peter J. Ladd passed responsibilities to CSM Jon D. Matthews  at Fort Hood, Texas. CSM Ladd was reassigned to duties as Command Sergeant Major of the 89th MP Brigade.

December
Operation Iraqi Freedom Ends
15 December - Iraq The United States involvement in the war came to an official end.
18 December - Iraq At approximately 0800 hours, the last convoy of United States troops passed through the gate at the Iraqi ~ Kuwait border.

19 December - North Korea The North Korean news agencies have announced the death of Dictator Kim Jong Il on the 17th, bringing his seventeen year reign as one of their most oppressive dictators to and end. South Korea and the world now fear the possibility of a serious military strike against their country as Il's son, twenty-seven year old Kim Jong Un, tries to position himself in the eyes of the powerful Peoples Army.

   South Korean and U.S. troops move to a heightened alert posture.

27 December - Paktia, Afghanistan SSG Noah M. Korte, SPC Kurt W. Kern and PFC Justin M. Whitmire of HQ Detachment (Vanguard) were killed in action when insurgents attacked their vehicle using an improvised explosive devise.

  Several other members of the Battalion (yet to be identified) were also wounded in the attack.
