LTC Robert M. Taradash

Commanding Officer of the 720th MP Battalion, 89th MP Brigade
9 June 2004 to 15 June 2006 ~ Global War on Terrorism, Iraqi Freedom-III

 

     On 9 June 2004 LTC Taradash received command of the Battalion from LTC David J. Poirier. On 15 June 2006 LTC Taradash passed command to LTC Frank Y. Rangle.

     During his tour as commander the Battalion was headquartered at Fort Hood, Texas subordinate to the 89th MP Brigade.

     Engaged in the Global War on Terrorism the Battalion was deployed under his command to Operation Iraqi Freedom III.

     Lieutenant Colonel Bob Taradash is from Charleston, South Carolina.  He enlisted in the South Carolina Army National Guard as an Infantryman in 1982 and prior to commissioning in 1987, was discharged as a Sergeant. He graduated from The Citadel in 1987 with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps.  He also holds a Masters of Science Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.  His military education includes Basic Training and Infantry Advanced Individual Training (AIT), the Military Police Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the US Army Jumpmaster School and the US Army Command and General Staff College.

     Lieutenant Colonel Taradash has held a wide variety of command and staff assignments.  His previous assignments include:  platoon leader and executive officer, 24 th Military Police Company, 24 th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Georgia; Commander, 6 th Military Police Company and later Deputy Division Provost Marshal, 6 th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Brigade Provost Marshal, 1 st Brigade, 6 th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Senior Military Police Observer/Controller, Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), Fort Polk, Louisiana; Brigade Plans Officer, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; S-3, 720th Military Police Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas; Military Police Personnel Systems Staff Officer and Army Transformation Strategy and Policy Analyst, Headquarters Department of the Army, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1, Pentagon, Washington D.C; and most recently as the Division Provost Marshal, 2 nd Infantry Division and Provost Marshal of Area I, Republic of Korea.

     His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal (2 Bronze Stars), Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 Bronze Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Korean Defense Service Medal, Saudi Kuwait Liberation Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
