        CSM Heimbuecher arrived from his assignment with the 15th MP Brigade in Frankfurt, Germany and was assigned to replace SMG Kenneth Kidd who was reassignedfrom the battalion to the 89th MP Group on 17 May 1968.

        During an orientation tour of the Battalion Tactical Area Of Responsibility he fell from a ladder at one of the Bravo Company Outpost watchtowers and seriously injured a leg requiring hospitalization.

     Having to spend an extended period of time hospitalized, CSM Heimbuecher was reassigned to convalesce stateside, and replaced by CSM Burton E. Morrow in October 1968.

Photographs

     CSM Heimbuecher's distinguished service started during World War II with service in Europe with the 704th Tank Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. During his Army career he has served more than 10 years overseas duty in Europe,South Korea and South Vietnam.
