   MAJ. Melloh, the Battalion executive officer, received interim command of the Battalion when LTC Weldon Cox was reassigned to the Camp Tokyo Provost Marshal Office on 16 August 1954.

     He relinquished command with the arrival of LTC George E. Painter on 23 August.
