In 1953 LTC Cox assumed command of the Battalion from LTC Alvin B. Welsch. The Battalion assets were stationed in the Tokyo metropolitan area performing security, discipline, law and order duties. On 16 August 1954 LTC Cox was reassigned to the Camp Tokyo PMO, and MAJ James L. Melloh the battalion executive officer was assigned as interim commander pending arrival of LTC George E. Painter. |
