MAJ Reilly assumed command of the Battalion on 26 November 1944 in New Guinea. The Battalion assets were stationed in Port Moresby, Milne Bay, Oro Bay, Finchhaven, and Hollandia, New Guinea, engaged in base patrol, ship and dockside security, and guarding military installation's, a stockade and enemy POW's. D Company and HQ Detachment were located in the Philippine Islands with the 6th Army. |
On 12 April 1945 MAJ Reilly was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel just before being transferred. |
