401st MP Company |
021209 Hello to you. I was in the 401st MP company, 720th at Fort Hood from December 1974 through August 1977. I am Gregory R Garbs, SP/4, 401st MP Co. I have met only one of the many I served with at Ft Hood, TX. What a time in my life. I will never forget. My brother lost his son, SP/4 Ryan Garbs, 3/75 Rangers, Fort Bragg, in Afghanistan two years ago. My heart still aches. God Bless our men and women in active service! 062912 Hello All. Name is Don Odom and I was part of the 401st MP Company, Fort Hood, from 1978-1980. Miss the days of working the Lake Belton area - was that Car 28 or 29? I don't miss that SGT at the motor pool who was never satisfied with our jeep clean-up, no matter how well we did it. I do remember many long days in the field and the fun we always had opening up North Fort Hood's station to handle the reservists each year. What was the name of that greasy spoon in Fort Gates with the great chili? Lots of memories I wouldn't trade for anything. Email: dbodom@lunacanis.com |

091613 Good day one and all:
I am (SP4) Danny Hardy, aka Mainspring, and I served in the 401st from June 1974, to Jan. 1977. When I arrived the operations sergeant, SFC Carol Mathis, gave me that nickname and it stuck. I worked the road, was the journal clerk, blotter clerk, and dispatcher at the PMO. Though I could not wait to get out I could not be more proud to have served and to have served with some of the best people I have ever known.
I’ve tried to keep up with many people from that time but have only found and stayed in touch with a few. Some I have found too late – after their passing. Here is to the memory of Guy Wroten, Ron Elerick, Randy Mitchell, and Bill Shea.
I believe I may have recognized myself in one or two of the pictures on here but I was so young then (or I’m so old now) that it’s hard to tell.
I am still looking for a few folks like Michael Bryant and Kenny Neuville. Likewise I would love to hear from anyone from those days. You may contact me at dan@hardy.com or my facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/DannyLHardy.
Kind regards to all,
Danny Hardy |
120813 Hey all, SP4 Sheldon Port here. I served with Doug Duckson and others from 1976-1978. I remember the North Fort Hood PMO, and the blast Rick Bieruta, and all the other MP's working the range roads at Tank Table VIII, had trying to catch the Tippet and the Hannah clans from stealing the brass and aluminum shell casings. Still have the range map we used to track their movements. Sgt Bonham damn near killing me with his accidental shotgun discharge at the North Fort PMO. Working as the DAH (Darnall Army Hospital) guard in the ER, I can still see ambulance driver Sig Olson, and nurse Marianne there. Can't forget the fourth floor (looney floor). Car 21 (I think) money escort. The Poxon House for taking a break from patrol. The big fireworks explosion up on Railhead Drive during the July 4th display in 1977-78? My spit-shine melting during guardmount because of the damn Texas heat/humidity! Standing guard at the main bank on paydays, that damn Texas heat/humidity! River Crossings, night training, war games, taking POW's, guarding the 82nd Airborne during thie night jump, M60 gunning, low-water crossing guard (crap), alert shack (crap), rappelling out the dayroom window (Top Mathis wasn't too upset about that, not as much as the Sgt. Major was-ha, ha), Special duty at Camp Bullis (great). Man I never realized what memories we made in such a short time. They are the best, made with the best people ever! I wouldn't trade any of those, what an awesome time. Sheldon Port 401st MP Company, Email me at sport69@comcast.net |
060314 Pete Christiansen here. Served in the 401st from Mar 77 till about Sep 78. I was looking up the lineage of the 401st and stumbled across the discussion board. USAR1SGPCC@aol.com |

411th MP Company |
090207 Hello All, I would like to hear from any of the guys or gals who served in the 411th MP Company, 1974-1976. I was SP/4 Michael Wood, 411th MP Co. October 1974-January 1976. I have only run into one person who I served with and that was Sinarude (SP). But have thought many times about you all. |
070514 Hello to all my fellow 95Bs, my name is Bill Sanders, I was with the 411th from September 1977 thru April 1980, then I went straight into the Reserve, I went to the 12th Special Forces in Arlington Heights Illinois. Anybody that remembers me would know why, I loved the field and my M60, and the M16/203 combo. Anyways I'm still in contact with my Platoon leader former 2Lt now retired Lt Col Joe Pfanzelter, I was in contact with our former 1st Sgt and CMH Nicky Bacon, he was our Top in 78 when 1 Sgt Culver retired. I was 1st Platoon, my Platoon Sgts were SFC James Kanouse, SSG Schroeder, SFC Booth, he was a former Drill Sgt and went back to Ft McClellan, then we got SFC Cook, by then I was short. In 1978 I tried out and was accepted to the "Team Army" motorcycle racing team. 4 man 6 Day Team, reassigned to the Recruiting Command, so I was on Special Duty, for a year, TDY all over racing Moto-Cross and Off Road. Prior to that there was a opening for a CBR NCO, I volunteered and was sent to a 2 week Troop School. Then I OJTed with Sgt Peterson and took over when he ets out. Our COs were Cpt Calzada when I got there, then 1st LT Galvan Gilbert and Cpt Mark Magrini. While I was on the MX team 1Sgt Bacon went to Batallion and we got SFC Turner as our new Top, but if you called him that he got mad?? And I was there when all the fireworks went off all at the same time on the ground, that was wild, one of the few times I wore Khakis and the White Hat. and PFC Kenny Bishop committing suicide because he wanted out, that was sad, but me I belonged in the Infantry, I knew that shortly after getting to Fort Hood just in time to draw my gear and do a EDRE, loved it.
