15 March The 32nd’s depot was organized under TO&E 8-667E, with the addition of a Medical Unit, Self-contained, Transportable (MUST) Maintenance Section.

1 May The 32nd’s Base Platoon was located at Cam Ranh Bay, with the B Optical and Maintenance Division at Nha Trang, both in Khan Hoa Province, II Corps Tactical Zone. The 1st Advance Platoon and the 2nd Advance Platoon were located in Saigon (Gia Dinh Province, III Corps Tactical Zone) and Qui Nhon (Binh Dinh Province, II Corps Tactical Zone), respectively.

.

The 1st Advance Platoon undertook two successful relocations of the depot stocks. The first move took place from 1-10 May from what was described as a completely unsatisfactory storage site located on the Saigon Dock’s to a new facility within the safer confines of the Tan Son Nhut Air Field.

.

The second movement was being readied for a new storage depot facility being planned at Long Binh Post in Bien Hoa Province, III Corps Tactical Zone.

.

Editors Notes: A previous 1966 move of the depot facilities from Nha Trang to Cam Ranh Bay involved over 500 CONEX Containers of medical supplies and equipment.

10 June  Due to the phase out of the company’s Nha Trang Detachment in Khan Hoa Province, II Corps Tactical Zone, two of the handler teams returned to Headquarters Detachment were reassigned to the construction site of the planned 32nd Medical Supply Depot on Long Binh Post in Bien Hoa Province, III Corps Tactical Zone on a temporary basis for the support of the 1st Logistical Command.

20 July-2 August The successful movement of the remaining medical stocks from Saigon to the new 58,800 square foot depot on Long Binh Post by the 32nd’s 1st Advance Platoon was conducted from 20 July to 2 August.

The currently available quarterly reports of the 89th MP Group and 18th MP Brigade did not specify the handler team’s walking posts, or the date the temporary security mission was finally terminated.

.

If you worked this assignment and can provide any photographs of the facility, handler teams or information or personal stories on the site security mission, please contact the History Project Manager via the Email Link at the top of this page.
