Combined Operations With National Police Field Forces

8 April, 1968 The 720th MP Battalion assumed operational control of the 116 man, 301st National Police Field Forces Company, [NPFF], and deployed the unit in the Battalion Tactical Area of Responsibility (TAOR). Although a part of the uniformed National Police Force, they were a paramilitary light infantry company specially trained in counterinsurgency operations.

Two enlisted men from the 301st were integrated into the Battalion Tactical Operations Command Center to insure coordination of all NPFF operations within the TAOR. A 30 man platoon was headquartered at B Company Outpost #2, Long Hung Village during their stay. Their American advisor Mr. Hale lived at the outpost with the B Company MPs.

The NPFF assisted with cordon and search operations of Long Hung and An Xuan Villages to root out Viet Cong members and sympathizers. Their presence in the TAOR caused some conflict with the local PF Platoon due to alleged thefts from the villagers homes during the searches.

They ended their stay with the 720th and moved to the Saigon area in late May or early June.
