| January CPT Robert E. Connor replaces CPT Lattimore as the My Tho Detachment commander and MACV Team 75's MP advisor to the 7th ARVN Infantry Division. |
5 February The 188th Military Police Company who where assigned duties in IV Corps (Mekong Delta) were reassigned to the command of the 720th Military Police Battalion when its parent unit the 92nd Military Police Battalion was the first MP Headquarters to be deactivated and withdrawn from Vietnam. |

7 March SGT Dennis Ray Heerman, age 20, from Coin, Iowa, died as a result of a vehicle crash in Ba Xuyen Province, IV Corps Tactical Zone (Mekong Delta Region). Details of the circumstances surrounding his casualty are at this time unknown. |

| 14 March 1LT Raymond F. Cox is assigned as Platoon Leader. Shortly after his promotion to Captain, he was assigned as the Provost Marshal of Vinh Long Province. |

10 July CPT Dennis Fogarty passed command of B Company, 720th MP Battalion to CPT Walter B. Koszyk. CPT Koszyk passes command of the 188th MP Company to CPT Fogarty. |

| 18 July 1LT Charles W. Smith is assigned as a Platoon Leader. |
19 July B Company & 188th MP Company begin the change with the infantry mission in the 18th MP Brigade Tactical Area of Responsibility coming to a close (25 July). Members of B Company started shipping out to DaNang to staff the newly redesignated 188th MP Company while other members stayed behind to staff the new B Company (formerly the 188th) in the IV Corps Tactical Zone (Mekong Delta). Likewise in the 188th some members were transferred to DaNang, others to various local MP units and some remained. |
| August CPT Raymond F. Cox was transferred from his position of Provost Marshal Vinh Long to that of Adjutant to LTC Robert P. Schmitz, the 720th MP Battalion Commander. |
September With the downsizing of US troops under the Vietnamization Program, the 188th MP Company was to be reassigned from the Mekong Delta to DaNang. To expedite the change in location and lessen the logistical operation for the move, B Company was redesignated as the 188th MP Company and sent north to Da Nang. The 188th MP Company was redesignated as B Company and remained in the Mekong Delta where they continued to performed discipline, law and order, and convoy escort duties. |

B Company 720th MP Battalion, CPT Dennis Fogarty Commanding, was redesignated as the 188th MP Company and sent to DaNang and became part of the 504 MP Battalion, I Corps Tactical Zone. The 188th MP Company, CPT Walter B. Koszyk Commanding, was redesignated as B Company of the 720th MP Battalion and remained in the Mekong Delta, IV Corps Tactical Zone. |

Elements of the Company were assigned to the Armed Forces Police at Freedom Hill, Camp David and Happy Valley, Camp Land, in the DaNang area of operations. |
The redesignated former B Company, 720th MP Battalion, now the 188th MP Company, became part of the 16th MP Group, 504 MP Battalion. |

The 188th was located in a compound with the 504th MP Battalion at Camp David Land a US Marine Corps Base in "Happy Valley," Freedom Hill. Their duties were Armed Forces Police Patrols with the Marines and Air Force Security Police. They also had a combined MP Station in DaNang City. |

In the city they worked combined patrols with the Vietnamese National Police [Canh Sat], Military Police [Quan Canh] and the Republic of Korea [ROK] Military Police. 31 December CPT John L. Kuykendall passes command of the 188th MP Company to CPT Robert L. McClendon. |
