720th
Bear Cat Base Camp was the Headquarters of the 9th Infantry Division until they moved their operations south of Saigon into the Mekong Delta Region, IV Corps, in July 1968. During the transition the Headquarters of the Royal Thailand Volunteer Black Panther Division moved into the Bear Cat compound.

1st Leg
        The convoy escort departed Long Binh Post and traveled east on Hwy 317 to south on Hwy QL-15 to the base camp. They picked up the 9th Infantry Division trucks and returned back over the same route past Long Binh Post, turned south on to the Dong Nai River Bridge, Hwy 316 (later renamed 1A) and proceed to the Newport Bridge and dock facility.
2nd leg
        MP escorts from the 716th MP Battalion (call sign WACO) would escort the convoy from the Newport Bridge to the Newport/Saigon Docks for loading then back to the bridge. From the bridge the 720th would again take escort of the convoy back to Bear Cat before returning to Long Binh Post.
716th
        Throughout the years the 720th MP Battalion would also provide a detachment of MPs to assist with the discipline, law and order mission at the Bear Cat Base Camp.
1968
25 May, 2006 hours At 8:20PM the Bear Cat Convoy Escort was ambushed at Grid Coordinates YS 123971, on Highway QL-15 and they suffered three MPs wounded in action and one killed in action, PFC Daniel Joseph Flynn. All were from C Company.

20 July to 15 August Elements of the 3,000 man Royal Thai Army, Black Panther Division arrived in Vietnam and was transported from the Saigon docks to the Bear Cat Base Camp under the security of C Company convoy escort units during Operation CONDOR-II.

9 January to 14 February The Remaining elements of the Royal Thai Army Black Panther Division arrived in Vietnam and were transported from the Saigon docks to the Bear Cat Base Camp under the security of A Company escort units during Operation CONDOR-III.
