The Company continued to perform normal military police duties in the Inchon-Ascom City area. The 3rd Platoon was assigned duty in Seoul [capital], South Korea for one week. The Company received movement orders from General Headquarters.

13 October, Friday At Inchon Harbor the Company embarked on the USS General W. A. Mann while their vehicles and some service personnel were loaded on the USNT Green Bay and Twin Falls Victories. The ships remained in Inchon harbor for a week.

20 October, Friday The Battalion departed Inchon Harbor, South Korea on the USNS General Mann.

The morale of the Company aboard the USS General W. A. Mann was superior, the food served was excellent in quality and sufficient quantity. The attitude of the crew toward the Company was friendly and the order and discipline aboard the ship offered in every respect a direct and striking contrast to the conditions aboard the USNS General Simon B. Buckner. Conditions aboard the Victory Ships were not the best.

27 October, Friday The Company debarked from the troop ship at Wosan, North Korea. The first evening they were billeted at the X Corps Headquarters near the center of town.

28 October, Saturday The Company moved out of Wosan City, approximately four miles, to a small valley near the sea. Defensive positions were immediately established in order to maintain security against possible attack by Communist Guerilla forces known to be operating in the area.

The Company assumed duties in town patrol and established check points, consisting of one M-20 Armored Car and a team. They were detailed to search all civilians and civilian vehicles entering the city and to permit no one to enter or exit at night.

In addition, the Company maintained the Provost Marshal Office in Wosan, escorted enemy POW’s and refugees, and controlled traffic at the airstrip near the X Corps Command Post.

Black market activities were not particularly large in the Wonsan area. Crimes by Allied Military Personnel against the civil populace were not frequent. In some instances the M-20 check points were found to be in advance of Marine Infantry Outpost’s. Several of the check points had to withdraw because of enemy and friendly artillery fire on their positions.

The “Mock” civilian police caused some difficulties. In one instance a 12 year old boy was found carrying a large Russian rifle, fully loaded. Upon questioning he stated he was a Wosan Policeman.

Other children were found with amounts of explosives, black powder, shells and ammunition. In several instances, amounts of materials as large as Bullock Cart loads were found.

Small tags were issued to approved organizations authorizing them to bear firearms.
