The Communist Post Tet New Years Offensive

9 January to 14 February The Remaining elements of the Royal Thai Army Black Panther Division arrived in Vietnam and were transported from the Saigon docks to the Bear Cat Base Camp under the security of A Company escort units during Operation CONDOR-III.

11 February In a change of Battalion Command, LTC Baxter M. Bullock passes command of the 720th MP Battalion to LTC Robert M. O’Malley, Sr.

23 February The 720th Military Police Battalion became the first MP Battalion in the history of the United States Armed Forces to direct Artillery, Armor, and Infantry in support of MPs fighting as infantry in their Tactical Area of Responsibility under Operation STABILIZE during the 23 February 1969 Post Tet Communist Offensive attack on the southern perimeter of Long Binh Post.

1 August In a change of Battalion Command, LTC Robert M. O’Malley,Sr. passes command of the 720th MP Battalion to LTC Henry N. Henry, Jr.

8 September MAJ William F. Weaver relinquishes the position as the 720th MP Battalion Executive Officer to MAJ Nicholas N. Chronis.

18 September CPT Paul S. Fiasconaro receives command of HQ Detachment, 720th MP Battalion from 1LT L. O. Farris.

19 September MAJ Aron J. Cunningham assumes the position of 720th MP Battalion Chaplain from CPT Lloyd D. Powers.

3 October CSM Burton E. Morrow passes command to CSM William J. Wilkinson.

8 October MAJ William F. Weaver, Battalion Executive Officer and Battalion CSM Burton E. Morrow departed Vietnam for further assignment in the U.S.
